For the Belle of the Ball!

Many clothes have stories to tell! And this lovely gown is no different.

To prove it, she arrived at our thrift shop with this note attached:

Nana Katie, Grampa Joe, Uncle Peter and Mommy all lived in Military Camp Borden. Grampa Joe was a colonel at the time (eventually a brigadier general). They had many balls and formal functions. Nana bought this dress in the basement of Filene’s in New York City for a fraction of the price. It is pure silk. At that time, Filene’s sold one-of-a-kind designer dresses in its basement and was very popular. Nana was the belle of the ball!
